Job Overview

Founded in Houston, Texas in 2001, Abel Design Group is a premier mid-size architecture and design firm with projects across the globe.  In addition to its headquarters in Houston, the firm also has other offices across the country.

Abel Design Group is seeking an Experienced Designer to join its Houston, Austin, Denver, Atlanta, and Bay Area locations.  The ideal candidate will excel in innovative design solutions and be committed to design excellence.  The candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.

This position will focus on Corporate Interiors.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Principal in Charge/Lead Designer to establish project concept and aesthetics
  • Implement all phases of projects, including client meetings, field verification, drawing production, material and furniture selection/specification, and construction administration
  • Coordinate multiple projects concurrently
  • Work with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives
  • Manage client expectations regarding scope, budget, and schedule
  • Maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships
  • Manage project staffing, fees, and schedule
  • Track and ensure project profitability
  • Support project team with various administrative duties and project correspondence
  • Contribute to office initiatives and learning programs
  • Participate in business development and marketing efforts
  • Recruit and mentor staff
  • Report to Senior Project Manager or Associate Principal

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant architecture or interior design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • Test fitting through construction documentation preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit required
  • Additional software used in the position may include Adobe In-Design, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Flexibility to focus on multiple projects at the same time
  • Extensive knowledge of building materials, construction, and building codes, including ADA
