The idealcandidate is self-motivated and capable of self-guidedresearch and use of tools works well on a team withstrong communication skills, is a general lover of allthings related to design and emerging technologies witha passion to share their knowledge and educate our firm.The Design Performance Technologist position is a key partof Lake|Flato’s Design Performance team. This position isdirected by the firm’s Director of Design Performance andworks closely with the firm’s Director of Design Technologyand other Lake|Flato design performance experts.Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, projectwork and implementation of internal initiatives such as:• Perform building performance analysis such asclimate analysis, daylight modeling, energy modeling,views analysis, and more for both project-specificperformance goals and green building certificationdocumentation (such as LEED, Living BuildingChallenge, and WELL).• Provide parametric and/or generative designconsultation on projects that have technical orrepetitive geometry, and/or assist in optimizing designperformance strategies and solutions.• Participate in the firm’s internal research &development program by leading research projects,editing the research journal, and/or promoting theprogram.• Support graphics for marketing pursuits and newprojects. Contribute to awards submissions, interviewgraphics, and miscellaneous marketing outreach.• Assist with developing, maintaining, and training staff onin-house performance tools and methods.Desired background:• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in engineering,architecture, high-performance buildings, buildingscience, or related field with 1-5 years of relevantprofessional experience in the A/E/C industry.• A green building accreditation such as LEED AP, WELL,or equivalent.• Familiarity with sustainability rating and certificationsystems such as WELL, SITES, Living BuildingChallenge, and PHIUS.• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe CreativeSuite, Rhino, and Revit.• Experience with building performance simulationincluding but not limited to daylighting (Diva/ClimateStudio), Energy Modeling (Autodesk Inishgt), and PVAnalysis.• Experience developing and implementing sustainabilityconcepts and strategies through simulation tools asdemonstrated through an actual project or programwork.• Experience with parametric and/or generative designscript writing using grasshopper and/or dynamo.• Ability to graphically illustrate and verballycommunicate analysis concepts in a clear and effectivemanner.• Demonstrated ability to perform independent research.Please send a digital copy of your resume and an expandededition of your portfolio in .pdf or .jpg format by e-mailwith the subject line “Design Performance Technologistapplication” to firstname.lastname@example.org.
